LIBRARY SERVICES ONLINE

There is a full range of library services available to students and faculty who choose to connect to our library online rather than visiting us on campus.

Request Barcode

  • Important: You must have a library barcode on your student ID before you start the online library orientation.  Get your barcode at the library front desk.  If you are a distance learner or a dual enrollment student in one of the counties that we serve, call, write, or e-mail whitel@lakecitycc.edu  to receive your  barcode number.

Complete the Orientation

  • In order to learn the most efficient and effective ways of getting information electronically through our library, you should complete our Online Orientation program located at:

/library/orientation.aspx

  • Instructors will require that you turn in the completed worksheet to the library in order to get the validation sticker on your photo ID that indicates you have completed the orientation.
  • DISTANT LEARNERS - You may send the orientation as an attachment to our Circulation staff person Ms. White whitel@lakecitycc.edu and she will email you and your instructor concerning your completed orientation. You need to either save this email message for future classes, or request that we mail the red sticker so you can attach it to your student ID card. This validation sticker will indicate to your future instructors that you have already completed the general orientation.

Access Resources from Home

  • College instructors expect students to use “peer-reviewed” and current full-text articles, online full-text books, and reference resources, as well as reliable internet resources. Please note that databases are not considered internet resources!

Check “My Account”

  • From the Book Search page, you can select the “My Account” tab and track what books you have checked out, when they are due, and you can also renew the books if they are not overdue.

Email Librarians (see email addresses below)

  • You can expect a reply from the librarians by the next business day.

Access Online Research Help Ask a Librarian

  • This is an online information state-wide service provided by Florida libraries. Go to http://www.askalibrarian.org and you can chat with a librarian in real time.
