Students Rights and Responsibilities
YOUR RIGHTS AS AN AID RECIPIENT
- Any information regarding your applicaiton for aid is protected by the Student Privacy Act and is kept confidential.
- If you have questions about how your aid eligibility was determined, contact the Office of Financial Aid.
- If you have questions about If your family experiences financial difficulty which you feel would affect and perhaps increase your eligibility for aid (disability, death, unemployment, divorce, etc.) you may present documentation of these circumstances. At that time, your application for aid may be reconsidered, if funds permit.
- Students who do not meet academic satisfactory progress standards, and are unable to document mitigating circumstances such as a change in a program of study, illness, death in the family, etc., may appeal the suspension of financial aid eligibility. Contact the Office of Financial Aid for further information.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS AN AID RECIPIENT
- You and your parents must report, in writing, immediately to the Office of Financial Aid any changes in your family’s situation. This applies to a change in resources such as scholarships, tuition, waivers, external loan, Social Security benefits, Veteran benefits, and/or Civil Service retirement benefits,etc., which must be taken into consideration in the determination of your financial need.
- Failure to notify the Office of Financial Aid of significant changes in your family’s (or your) financial situation may result in the immediate cancellation, reduction, or repayment of your financial aid.
- If you withdraw from LCCC, all parts of your financial aid award may have to be repaid at the time of withdrawal. If the withdrawal occurs after classes begin, some repayment may be expected on a prorated basis. Future aid will be suspended if arrangements for repayment are not made.
- You must reapply for aid consideration each academic year.

Academic Requirements - Admissions to LCCC as a freshman or transfer student enables the new student who submits a timely financial aid application to be considered for financial assistance. However, all continuing undergraduate students must maintain satisfactory progress and academic good standings in order to be considered for financial aid.
In order to meet the standards adopted by LCCC, the student must:
Once awarded financial aid a student must complete at least 70% of all classes attempted and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better for all courses attempted at LCCC or transferred credits from other institutions.
