Learning Lab ComputersThe Collegewide Learning Lab is a stand-alone, multipurpose learning center available to all Lake City Community College and St. Leo students, as well as to the general public. The primary focus of the Lab is to provide remedial and developmental instruction for nontraditional students and those who are weak (or hesitant) in basic academic and computer skills.

Assistance is provided in reading, math, language, critical thinking, study and test taking skills, and employment skills. The foreign language lab services include audiotapes, computer software and interactive CD roms.

Interactive CD roms are software enhancements for the computer that have additional information to help in study and review. The Lab provides these CD's for your use. Basic Math, Beginning & Intermediate Math, Algebra, Liberal Arts I & 2, Statistics, Spanish, Medical Encyclopedias, and Medical Dictionaries are just a few available for every students use.

The Collegewide Learning Lab is equipped with IBM compatible computers, audio and video equipment, and various printed resource materials to support and enhance individualized and tutorial instruction.

Students may find materials and study for the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE), College Placement Test (CPT), College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Nursing Entrance Exam (NET), and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) tests.

        One on One Tutoring Title

 Tutoring Picture

The lab provides one-on-one tutoring for math students needing help with homework.  These tutors have completed their college level math courses and have, in many cases, completed some higher level math courses.  The lab maintains a current copy of most solution manuals for all mathematics courses offered at LCCC. Instructors solution manuals provide the student with detailed step-by-step solutions for problems contained in their math textbook.

Student browsing booksThe lab has an extensive collection of VHS video tapes that explain every topic covered in the Developmental Arithmetic with Algebra and Intermediate Algebra courses. Tapes may be borrowed for 2 to 3 day periods. The tape library is especially helpful to students who need to have a topic re-explained or for students who have missed a lecture due to absence.  The lab maintains a library of alternative textbooks for each math course offered at LCCC. These textbooks provide alternative explanations, examples and additional problems.

Textbooks and VHS tapes may be borrowed for 2 or 3 days periods.
