Student Ambassador Scholarship Program

Hey! Do you enjoy helping others? Being a leader? Taking part in special events? How about making easy money doing something you enjoy? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then being a Lake City Community College Student Ambassador is the perfect plan for you!

Sound too good to be true? Well, it’s not. Among the many scholarships offered at LCCC, the Student Ambassador Program is one of the most rewarding opportunities for the community, school, and the student.

Lake City Community College is proud or its students.  The student body is represented at community events by a group of students known as Student Ambassadors.  The students are coordinated through the Admission Office and are selected by certain criteria.  The criteria are that a student must:

  • have completed at least one semester at LCCC
  • have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • and be available to fulfill at  least 40 hours of service within each Fall and Spring semester and 20 hours during the summer semesters

They help in the recruitment of future students and represent the college in various functions such as orientations, campus tours, school visits, speaking appointments, community service, and other events. Some of the past events include the Olustee Festival, Alligator Fest, football games, musicals, financial aid workshops, and College/Career Day.

If interested in this program, please contact the Admission Office by e-mail at admissions@lakecitycc.edu; phone us at (386) 754-4288; or write to Lake City Community College, Admission Services, 149 SE College Place, Lake City, Florida 32025.

 Student Ambassador FAQ

What is a Student Ambassador and what do they do?

A Student Ambassador is a representative of the student body at Lake City Community College. They help in the recruitment of future students and represent the college in various functions such as orientations, campus tours, school visits, speaking appointments, community service, and other events. Some of the past events include the Olustee Festival, Alligator Fest, football games, musicals, financial aid workshops, and College/Career Day.

How are Ambassadors chosen?

Student Ambassadors are selected based on their college grade point average (G.P.A), as well as their participation in activities and organizations. Students who maintain an overall G.P.A. of a 3.0 or higher, and have previously had a minimum of 12 credit hours at Lake City Community College may apply. Also, preference will be given to fulltime students, which for fall and spring semesters are 12 credit hours. Interested students should complete an application and return it to the Admissions Office in building 015. Another part of the process is the interview. Interview times will be scheduled when you return your application. The interviews should not take more than 20 minutes and every effort will be made to accommodate the students’ schedule.

How much time is involved in being an Ambassador?

Ambassadors must complete a minimum of 40 hours of service during the Fall and Spring semesters and 20 hours during the summer semesters fulfilling Ambassador Responsibilities. Events will be during evenings, weekdays, and weekends. Every effort will be made to accommodate each Ambassador’s school and work schedule, however, Ambassadors must be flexible to complete the requirements.

What does being an Ambassador do for you?

As a Student Ambassador, you will receive a scholarship equivalent to reimbursement for tuition for 12 credit hours for each semester you serve in the Ambassador program. More importantly, the Ambassador program will enable you to improve and display your public relations and leadership skills. This will provide you with an edge in specific program acceptance as well as your future career.
