Fall Student Orientation

The Fall New student Orientation will be held on August 16, 2007 in the Levy Performaing Arts Center, Lake City Community College from 9 am to 12 Noon.

Continental breakfast will be served between 8:30 amd to 9 am.  Also, Lunch will be provided at the end of orientation at 12 Noon.

As the new school year approaches you may be starting to ask yourself: “How am I going to succeed in college?  How am I going to make the right choices?”  Have you set priorities, written down goals or thought about plans for your future?

If not, don’t panic.  There is not going to be a POP QUIZ on the first day of class where you must answer all of these questions.  If you are a first time in college student or have taken some college level courses, some of these questions should be thought about during your first year at college.

During the New Student Orientation on August 16, 2007, you will participate in a program called “The Ultimate Road Trip.”   This program is designed to help you answer some of the initial questions about college in a new and exciting way.  It will help you get organized, get involved and get excited.  Here are some of the topics discussed:

         Managing your time so you can have fun AND build your future

         Earning the grades even your parents couldn’t dream of

         Choosing extracurricular activities in which you can make a difference

         Making any job a stepping stone towards a bright and successful career

This program will offer new ideas and tips for a future that is lined with success.  The positive impact the presentation has on students who have participated is evident in their evaluation scores.  In 2005, students rated the value of the ideas presented an 8.8 and the effectiveness of the ideas presented an 8.9 on a 10-point scale.

There is no fee, thanks to the program’s partners such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Army ROTC, Bank of America, Disney Theme Parks and Resorts College Program, The United States Navy and Monster.
