Internships/Externships

There are several internship/externship programs available through the Career Center.  Some programs are paid, while some are unpaid.  Students are given an opportunity to gain experience in their chosen career through the internship/externship program.  Coordination is made between the student, the career center and the employer.  Some programs that currently incorporate these services are Medical Coder/Biller, Graphic Design, Computer Technology and Disney World.

Career Forums

Career Forums are designed to provide career services to students and are adapted to student interests and the needs of the academic department and are generally held during class times.  Company representatives come to campus for a panel discussion to talk with and answer questions from those students whose major corresponds to their industry.  Students can learn about entry-level employment opportunities related to their major, advancement and career paths within organizations in their field and the trends affecting the field.  Students can also learn about the knowledge and skills that it takes to be successful in their chosen career field.  Some examples of professions in which Career Forums are presented or will be presented on the Lake City Community College campus are:  Business, Education and Criminal Justice.
