Nurse’s Week May 6-12/Shortage for Nurses Looms

 Nurse’s week will be celebrated May 6-12. The theme this year is “Nurses Making a Difference Every Day.” The focus of this year’s nurses’ week is the work that America’s 2.9 million registered nurses do each day to save lives and maintain the health of millions of individuals.
Using the diverse theme, “Nurses Making a Difference Every Day,” the American Nurses Association (ANA) including the Florida Nurses Association (FNA), will highlight the diverse ways that nurses are working to improve healthcare.(more)

Eve Arden, Our Miss Brooks, is Truly Missed

 "I feel like a new woman. In fact I feel like a new man. Bring me a telephone book.” was a line delivered by Eve Arden to a befuddled waiter in “Whistling in the Dark” (1941).
Many a movie character was befuddled when zinged by Eve Arden. And audiences were even more amused than the character was befuddled. Arden had few peers at delivering ripostes and her flawless delivery improved every film in which she appeared. Film historian Leslie Halliwell correctly called her “a tall, cool lady…a face everyone in the audience was glad to see.” David Shipman in “The Great Movie Stars: The International Years” goes further, “Her first appearance always caused an appreciative buzz, and her slightest glance was treasured more than all the star’s vapourings.” Film biographer George Morris calls her “the best friend a star ever had.” (more)

The Lake City Community College (LCCC) District Board of Trustees will meet at 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 13 in the LCCC Board Room.
